How to write a welcome email that does one job

Inbox open on a laptop screen

A welcome email fails when it tries to explain the whole product. The reader signed up for the next issue, not a map of settings.

Tell them what they just joined, when the next email arrives, and where to read the latest public post. That is enough for the first send.

If you have a paid tier, mention it once at the end. The welcome note should still make sense to a free subscriber who never upgrades.
